As part of our annual fall gathering in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee this year, we will be engaging in a style of yoga that involves lying down on a yoga mat or blanket. Yoga Nidra, as led by Registered Nurse & Reiki Master Daphne Weinheimer, is a 60-minute session that does not require you to twist around like a pretzel or exert a lot of energy. Intense vinyasa flows and long asana holds are not part of this type of yoga.
Instead, Yoga Nidra is about slowing down and recovering from the stressors in your life. It seems we all need that! Daphne uses guided meditation that allows one to move into a deep state of conscious awareness and relaxation. This altered state involves moving from consciousness to unconsciousness while remaining awake.
At the Fall Gathering on October 7, Daphne will offer Yoga Nidra in the evening after all the other activities are complete. If you are staying overnight on one of our campsites, you can retire for the evening afterward or join us for sharing around the community campfire. Daphne will also be facilitating a sacred cacao ceremony as part of the day’s activities.
