We are hearing more and more people talk about walk-ins these days. There was little material on the topic a few decades ago. Is the soul exchange or walk-in a new trend in spiritual circles, or is there something going on that we need to pay attention to?
We have heard of demon possessions for centuries; Jesus Christ was known to cast a few of them out of people. We readily accept that someone could give their soul over to a dark force. But what about those who allow their body to be used by a higher power or for the light? Is this not what is meant by “giving your life to Jesus” as many Christians are taught to do? Is Jesus not a highly evolved soul or spirit guide?
There are souls who walk together, peacefully sharing the same body. Dual existence–a soul partnership. There are other souls who were born in a body and left without that body dying because another soul came in and took the reins. Could this be what some religions call being “reborn” or “born again”? Reincarnation without death.
People who have had a legitimate soul exchange are not victims of multiple personality disorder. They are common people who function well at all kinds of jobs; they raise children, and tend to everyday tasks in normal fashion. But they have been through some type of mysterious phenomena such as a near-death experience, a dark night of the soul, or other life-transforming experience that left them feeling like they were a different person.
When did the concept of walk-ins and soul exchanges begin?
In her 1979 best-selling book, Strangers Among Us, Ruth Montgomery indicated that walk-ins are beings who have attained adequate awareness of the deceptions posed by Earth life. This ability to see through the illusion allows them to forego the process of birth and childhood, incarnating directly into adult bodies. Though Ruth did not consider herself to be a walk-in, she was the first person in modern times to write about the subject. In her later book, Threshold to Tomorrow, she named sixteen walk-ins, and described their walk-in experiences. Among these was my friend, Carol Parrish-Harra. In her autobiographical book, Messengers of Hope, Carol wrote that walk-ins are spiritual messengers who enter behind the veil of another personality at certain opportune moments for service to humanity. She, herself, walked in over thirty years ago.
When a new soul comes into physical embodiment through the walk-in process, the original soul normally (but not always) leaves, moving on to other experiences in non-physical worlds, just as it would if it had gone through a physical death. The incoming soul either walks along with the natal soul or assumes full responsibility for the human body, and for completing the life in progress.
Some people might believe that a body is overtaken by a demon or disincarnate spirit in this process. There are no hostile takeovers with a legitmate soul exchange! A walk-in can only take place with the full agreement of both the outgoing and incoming souls. A walk-in is the exact opposite of a low-vibrating possession because of the positive associations it has with the Light. Carrying out a pre-arranged contract with a harmonized counterpart, soul exchanges are done with mutual consent to move both the walk-in and walk-out souls forward in spiritual evolution and bring a higher vibration to the earth, helping the planet ascend into purer planes of consciousness.
Many soul exchanges occur during exit points such as near-death experiences, surgeries, out-of-body experiences, dissociative episodes, dark nights of the soul, periods of unconsciousness, or other traumatic events. In the past, however, most walk-ins were not consciously aware of what was happening. That is because the incoming soul inherits the natal soul’s memory stored in the cells of the physical body, and souls on Earth are behind a veil of forgetfulness and illusion. Thankfully, that veil is thinning more and more.

Today, more and more walk-ins are coming in consciously aware of what is happening, and they may have conscious awareness that a soul exchange is about to or has taken place. They may even remember many of the details of the transitional process from both perspectives—that of the Earth plane and the higher dimension. In such cases, the exchange is made in a cooperative manner, and there is less upset as they acclimate, integrate, heal the body, overcome addictions, and resolve remaining past soul issues. Those souls usually have a good idea of the spiritual assignment they have come to complete and are ready to get on with life.
